Failure analysis of Upright & Base for Shelving Rack
Keywords: Analysis, Base, CAEM, Shelving, Upright
Shelving system is used for the display & storage of Books, Pharmacy products, FMCG goods, electronic
goods, canned goods, hardware etc. CAEM is shelving Engineering for the Retail Sector which manufactures modular
metal shelving systems for the shop fitting industry. The main structural members of steel storage racks are
uprights & Bases. CAEM India imports upright & bases from CAEM Italy for shelving racks. In this work, the
commercial software, ANSYS, is used for material and geometric nonlinear analysis of the upright & base and the
results are compared with analytical data obtained & providing a suitable design for the same.
