The present work focuses on the characterisation of the redox phenomena of the Taza-Nord prospect, a sector discovered in the concession of Aïr mines company in Niger. The Taza-Nord prospect is an integral part of the Arlit uranium deposits, which are underlain by carboniferous-age sandstones deposited in a fluvio-deltaic environment. In addition to sedimentological and structural controls, redox phenomena also play a major role in the preservation of uranium mineralisation in the Aïr mines company prospects. The methodological approach adopted consists of assessing and mapping redox accumulations. The results obtained show the distribution of redox parameters according to the different lithological facies of the Taza-Nord prospect. Pyrite and organic matter are concentrated in the reduced zones, mainly in the fine facies characterised by a greyish colour. Oxyhydroxides and carbonates, on the other hand, accumulate in oxidising environments formed during the circulation of mineralising fluids. In the Taza-Nord prospect, the oxidising environments are pinkish to orange. Lithologically, uranium mineralisation accumulates in the Tarat-Madaouela and Lower Tarat levels. The relationships between uranium mineralisation and redox parameters show that the oxidation-reduction phenomena of the fluids evolve from south to north.
