The Ba ethnic martial arts are the living fossils of the ancient military skills and folk culture of the Ba ethnic group, embodying a wealth of historical memories and national spirit. However, with the development of modern times, the Ba ethnic martial arts have encountered difficulties such as a reduction in the places for their inheritance, a thinning of the transmission channels, and a broken chain of cultural memory. Digital transformation has brought new hopes to this ancient martial art. Based on the cultural genes and historical evolution of the Ba ethnic martial arts, and combined with the latest trends in current digital technology development, this article analyzes the reasons for promoting the innovative development of the Ba ethnic martial arts through digital transformation and its operational paths. The research shows that digital transformation can assist the development of the Ba ethnic martial arts from four aspects: recording of minor skills, cultural dissemination, educational inheritance, and industrial transformation. It achieves precise preservation of skills through motion capture and 3D modeling, re-creates cultural dissemination methods through digital media, breaks the time and space limitations of verbal and practical teaching with virtual interaction technology, and realizes the transformation and innovation of cultural resources through digital platforms. During the transformation period, risks of technological alienation should be prevented, the relationship between digital reproduction and cultural authenticity should be adjusted properly, a development model of technological assistance, cultural awakening, and ecological reconstruction should be formed, providing theoretical references and operational paths for the current revitalization of traditional ethnic martial arts.
